“For freeholder, I ask for your support for my good friend Ron Bautista in District 5. Ron’s fight for affordable housing and safe, accessible streets is personal. He’s in politics to ensure his young daughter Sofia grows up in a county that works for all, not just the politically connected.”

“I am a Hoboken resident and homeowner who has lived in Hoboken since 1979.
I believe that a young, progressive spokesperson like Ron Bautista in the Freeholder’s seat is just what Hoboken and the other District 5 communities need to deal with the challenges of the future. Hoboken and District 5 are some the most densely populated areas in the United States. We constantly face major flooding, the effects of climate change, and aging infrastructure problems. We also have a growing homeless population. We have some of the highest taxes and cost of living expenses in New Jersey and New York. Ron Bautista is the person to make sure our tax dollars are allocated judiciously and fairly to alleviate these problems and to work in creative ways to overcome the problems and probable crises of our future. Ron has that kind of problem solving mind and the ingenuity and creativity to lead us through these crises and find the necessary solutions to the challenges we will face. I will vote for him for Freeholder and will do everything I can to get him the votes to win office.”

“Ron has been a great friend and ally for many years. I first met Ron when he was running for Mayor, and he was the only candidate in the race that even mentioned climate change at the debates. As an elected member of the Hoboken Democratic Committee and local organizer fighting runaway climate change has been one of my top priorities, especially in a city like Hoboken. Ron has stepped up time and time again to support progressive initiatives and bring the community together. Trust me, you want someone like Ron in office who cares about our future, and will actually listen to and represent his constituents!”

“I’m a first-generation immigrant and bilingual special needs teacher. Two years ago, my uncle Edisson Barros was taken by ICE agents and sent to the Hudson County Jail as an immigrant detainee. My uncle was facing deportation, it was a struggle to speak with him, and we would listen to him talk about the poor nutrition and non-existent medical assistance at the facility. Ron Bautista fought with us so that my uncle’s immigration case would be heard, and he helped fight for the human rights of all immigrant detainees at the County Jail. Together with other activists, they were able to get more visits, better nutrition programs, and better medical assistance for all detainees. I endorse Ron Bautista because I know first-hand that he understands the value of keeping families together and protecting the rights and well-being of all immigrants. We need him as County Freeholder.”

“As long as I have been organizing in Hoboken, Ron Bautista has always stood on the frontlines alongside me. I knew that Ron was a man I could trust when I first heard him speak at the Hoboken Mayoral debates. Everyone was talking about what to do about flooding in Hoboken, and Ron was the only person brave enough on that stage to even mention climate change. As an elected member of the Hoboken Democratic Committee, Ron is one of the first people I turn to when I need to build support for investing in our city’s pedestrian infrastructure, or making positive environmental reforms. Ron is deeply embedded in our community, and he has a daughter he is raising here, so I know that as Freeholder he would make decisions with her in mind. Ron is looking to build a Hoboken that future generations can grow up in, with safe streets, clean air, and a future protected from runaway climate change.”

“I’m a longtime resident and parent, and I support Ron Bautista for County Freeholder. Ron’s commitment to everything from safer streets (we have so many seniors and young families!) to climate justice is exactly what Hoboken needs, given its unique physical location and economic and cultural diversity. Our city’s policies need to match our civic potential to continue to be a model for the nation. I am also strongly in favor of a Community Land Trust to ensure our community will be affordable for people of all incomes. Cancelling the ICE contract is also of paramount concern to me as we cannot continue to tacitly endorse the monstrous tactics being used on our most vulnerable people.”

“My support is behind Ronald Bautista for County Freeholder. Ron has proven himself to be a transparent, considerate, and concerned community member that aims to bring folks together on issues that directly impact their lives. Ever since I’ve know him, Ron has always made it a point to use different mediums to have conversations with the people in Hoboken. I was especially excited to witness him create welcoming and inclusive spaces for information sharing for Spanish speaking residents during the COVID-19 crisis. Ron strives for community-informed solutions and his issues reflect a holistic approach to community building- affordable housing and mental health trainings empower individuals and their families. His support for renewable energy, pedestrian safety, and immigrant rights empower cities and puts us in the right direction for a safe and humane future. I’m looking forward to seeing what Ron can do on a larger scale!”

“I am a proud Hoboken resident, a Head Start teacher in the Hoboken Public School District, a youth sports coach in the community, and my daughter is a student in the Hoboken Public School District. From the moment I first met Ron Bautista, he has impressed me with his passionate advocacy, activism and service on behalf of Hoboken residents. I first met Ron Bautista during his mayoral campaign and got to know him better when I was advocating for safer streets for pedestrians in Hoboken. I can always see the fire in his eyes when he talks about the issues that are important to him to improve the lives of local residents. It’s a passion I share. I believe he is a steadfast ally who cares about improving the lives of ALL Hudson County residents of every race, socioeconomic status, religion, sexual orientation and gender. Voting for Ron for County Freeholder for District 5 in Hudson County is the right choice because we need a strong, progressive voice in Hudson County, who is ready to fight for the changes we need to make our community better, even if it means fighting the status quo. Ron has my vote.”
